Found it? 4/7/311
A cloaked figure walked towards the fountain in the square. The cloak was an ominous black, which would probably draw attention to the figure... an attention that was unwanted.

Strangely, the town square was empty. The figure shrugged as he noticed this, pausing to look around. Strange... I've a very strange feeling about this... and not a good one... He thought to himself. Finally, he spotted what he wanted to see.

A rather large sword was embedded in the ground. Instead of a crossguard, all it had was a handle. The blade itself seemed to be made of a golden metal, and the hilt was covered in many strange symbols. The sword appeared to be stuck deep into the ground, as if it had fallen from a great height.

Xero lowered his hood, revealing his head. His skin was the same black as his cloak, and his hair was a dark red. His eyes gleamed in the light, revealing themselves as the same dark red. Underneath his right eye, a golden rune gleamed. "Could it be..." He said out loud. "...The Blade of Existence?"

Re: Found it? 4/7/311
Everyone seemed to be searching for something, for someone, and Lawrence himself was no exception to the rule. The artist walked slowly, more meandering than truly walking and shoved his hands deep into the pockets of his jeans. Inside the pockets, long lean fingers with paint until their nails rested, anticipating the moment when they’d feel inspired enough to paint something again. Call it painter’s block, call it too much stress, call it whatever it was - Lawrencre Grimmel had somehow lost the ability to create his life’s work during the past few months. His emotions were tangled up inside him where they would have been previous emptied on to canvases, but nothing, no feeling inside him made him want to paint. It was a sad day when an artist didn’t want to create art. Lawrence sighed and shook his hair back from his face without removing his hands from their denim enclosures.

Usually, the artist was an observant man, but today, his head was further in the clouds that it had ever been before. His long, lanky legs carried him almost nonchalantly down one of the streets of Genil and up another, his muscles now beginning to burn from the inactivity he’d submitted them to. It felt as if he’d lost everything at the direct moment and as if the past itself was playing tricks on him at his expense. He’d discovered horrible things about a dead woman who he still called his fiancée in the back of his mind, had somehow screwed up the almost romance he’d been involved in, and now, his inspiration was entirely done for. With no available way to vent or any sign of hope, he’d become a grumpy man instead of his usual quiet but complacent self.

As Lawrence’s eyes landed on a creature that seemed a bit malicious, he froze in his tracks and glanced around the town square. Unfortunately, it was empty though he would have liked to have seen some of the guards that were usually stationed around the city in these trying days. His dislike for those from the darker cities had only grown fiercer recently as he thought of his almost-wife’s indiscretions that ultimately ended her life. His eyes narrowed as the thing spoke, his eyes glowing menacingly. How long would it take for soldiers to arrive? Too long. Perhaps he could convince it to leave peacefully with the understanding that creatures from Anarab and Nureese were not welcome within the walls of Genil. Lawrence answered the rhetorical question, his hands still clenched in the pockets of his thin jeans.

“I don’t know what it is, but you should take it and leave quickly if it belongs to you.”

Re: Found it? 4/7/311
Xero glanced at the person that had walked up. "And here I thought that this town has abandoned. I haven't seen anyone else at all." He said, something in his voice. "In any case, you are quite right... it does belong to me. As for leaving, I don't think I'll be doing that." Xero crossed his arms. "If one of my swords landed in this city, perhaps one of the other six did so as well."

Xero slowly walked up the to sword, his cloak rustling as the edge of it dragged along the ground. As he reached it, he grabbed the hilt of the sword with one hand. A rush of power filled his body, and he pulled it out of the stone, revealing a sword that was one foot wide and about 5 to 6 feet long. The golden metal of the sword gleamed in the light, as Xero whirled it around as if it weighed nothing... and to him, it did, indeed, have no weight. The Blades of Balance were like extensions of his body to him.

Xero flipped the sword in his hand, and made a sheathing motion, the sword disappearing the moment it passed his hip. Once he released the hilt, the rest of it disappeared. He turned to face the person that had approached him, curiousity gleaming in his eyes as he ignored the hole that had been left where the sword was. "Tell me, why do you think I should leave?"

Re: Found it? 4/7/311
"The way you look could strike fear into the hearts of those who live in Genil."

Lawrence sighed softly and wandered toward the nearby fountain, watching its clear water trickle into the lower pool. Prismatic rainbows danced in the streams of water in the air but he felt immune to it, empty. Beauty of any sort seemed to be lost on him. The artist, being the observant man he was, didn't want to screw with some kid with a gigantic sword. The dark cities trained the foolish children to fight and risk their lives in the war that had passed through their land, so many of them slain not because of their own conviction, but because of others cowardice. He'd never had a problem with the darker races until now and for some reason, the prejudice made him want to kick himself. While some of the monsters from Anarab and Nureese were just that, monsters, others were kind hearted though they were few and far between. Holding out his hand, a spray of water danced across his fingers, quickly evaporating from his tanned skin.

"It seems as if you don't know why your kind isn't usually allowed in Genil, why there are walls on the outside of the city. It isn't to keep us in, no. It's to keep them out if they ever try to return again. Today isn't a high security day, the threat of war hasn't been mentioned in years now. Six years ago, a terrible war ripped apart Genil. What you see now is half of her glory, we're all still trying to rebuild."

Re: Found it? 4/7/311
Xero's eyes widened as he heard this last part. "...War?!" He silently cursed under his breath. "...War. To tell you the truth, I didn't know of this war. I merely appeared in this world... about 18 days ago." He said, after a quick mental calculation. "...I'm merely looking for my lost swords. That's the only thing I have on my mind."

He thought for a minute, a strange look crossing across his face. "...As for how I look, I can't help that. Even if I got rid of my cloak, my skin, eyes, and hair would scare someone." He pulled the hood over his head, a rustling sound coming from it as he did. "Besides, I personally believe that this cloak makes me look less scary than when my skin shows." He put his arms at his sides, and the sleeves fell down to cover his hands. "...Don't tell me that you believe in outer appearances forming the person."

Re: Found it? 4/7/311
Lawrence stopped short, guilt flooding him. Hadn't some of the worst people he'd ever known looked perfectly innocent? It didn't matter now, Genil still didn't trust those from Anarab and Nureese and never would again. Those creatures had come into their city, raped their wives, and burnt their children alive in their locked homes. The Schism Saints and the Collection had single handedly done some of the most atrocious war crimes many had seen and yet, they returned home heroes. A scar like that couldn't be lifted from the minds of all of those who had suffered through it, nor could the memory be forgotten of all of those who had perished among Genil's ruins. Lawrence nodded slowly.

"What I believe doesn't really matter. What this community believes is really what you have to worry about. If I were you, I'd be certain to at least recieve clearance from the military to be here, so that you're not slaughtered by Maeda's infiltry."

The artist shoved his hands down into his pockets carelessly again, and began to walk away. Why had that question bothered him so deeply?

Re: Found it? 4/7/311
"It is true I would rather not have to fight, as it would be hard to hold back enough to keep someone from dying." Xero said softly, his voice almost silent, yet loud enough to be heard. "...Goodbye, then. Perhaps our paths will cross yet again someday." He paused, looking at the artist. "After all, it is strange that none of your guards have shown up yet, correct? Perhaps we were meant to meet. I may not believe in fate completely, but I do believe that some force does alter actions occasionally." He summoned the large, golden sword that he had dragged out of the ground, lifting it above his head. In a flash, he was no longer there.
