First Day At Oly
It was a bit, different. It's going to take some getting used to before it feels like home.

Its a lot more regimented, at least as far as service shops go, IMHO. I guess we were spoiled in SFV. There is NO time for screwing around, or talking, or anything but calls, and reports, and reports, and reports. I can't speak for the pressroom, I'm sure Jesse will. :p

I get the impression the pressroom is run a bit "looser" than it was at SFV, not as regimented; it's a bit more laid back at Oly. But Dana is correct about the shops, there is a lot less screwing around and wandering aimlessly than there was in the SFV plant, it's more businesslike. The shops seem to be more focused on supporting the pressroom. I may be wrong, time will tell.

Re: First day at oly
I talked to one of the Mailers last night & he said it was quite a bit different in Oly. The supervisors were on the floor with radios & far more involved in the run. There was always something to do. Absolutely no one sat with a paper, it was work, work, work the whole time, but that made the time go by faster. I would not have minded the quicker pace. We'll see what other reports I get back as the week progresses.
