--Frequently Asked Questions about Annie--

*How old is Annie?*
22...(legal and on the prowl)

*When is her birthday?*
May 12th.

*Where is Annie from?*
She was born in San Francisco but raised in Fullerton, California. Where? In hearing range from Disneyland fireworks, of course!!!

*Does she have any siblings?*
One brother Matty: He's 23, incredibly cool (as all big brothers are) and my longtime partner in fun.

*Are you taken?*
Alas, no. But I'm sure he's out there somewhere, and if he wants, he can send me an application to...*drum roll please*

*How can I contact you?*
I love emails!! Especially when they're not telling me I can 'lose 10 dress sized in 1 hour', 'refinance my mortage' or 'check out Roxy's web cam'. All non-spam material can be sent to annie@anniebeth.com.

*Whats your musical background?*
My whole family is musical: my parents met in this christian folk band that toured around in the early 70's - they een have records and everything. So music was always around. I distinctly remember being on a family trip in teh car singing "Green Grow the Rushes, hoh" with 4 part harmonies. The weird thing is, I was never really into music like most kids are, ie: Having New Kids on the Block bedsheets, knowing all the words to Debbie Gibson's songs, listening to KIIS 102.7 after school - that was never my thing. I didn't even buy my first CD until I was 16. It was Jonny Lang. I remember seeing him on MTV and being like "That's how I sing!" and not even knowing, really, about this style called "blues".

*When did you start playing?*
I got a guitar for Christmas when I was 16 and played around a bit, but didn't really start playing steadily until my freshmen year of college. My dad taught me a few chords and from there I taught myself by buying sheet music of certain easy songs and practicing them. During my sophomore year of college I started writing my own stuff, and left the covers behind.

*Do you have any musical influences? Who do you admire?*
I think my family is the biggest musical influence for me. My parents, obviously, influenced me growing up, and now my brother is always introducing me to new sounds and styles. As for other artists, Ben Harper is my all time favorite. If I could open for him, I would die a happy woman. I'm influenced by him not in the sense that I try to duplicate his sounds, but I just admire the feeling that he has in his CD's: 1) the lyrical beauty of the words, and 2) the overall eclecticism of the sounds he can produce. Hearing "Burn to Shine" really made me want to be a varied song-writer. I also admire Fiona Apple and Sheryl Crow, but truthfully, it's weird when someone says I sound like "this artist or that artist" because to me, I'm just me.

*Where can I see you perform?*
I play a lot around San Diego: Twiggs, Lestat's, Martini Ranch, Hot Java Cafe, Caffiends, Metaphor Cafe, Miracles Cafe, Cafe 1134 and um...my bedroom. I also am going to New York in late March and hope to do more touring in the future! Check the website for new shows!

*Do you cover any songs?*
I usually don't like covers because the emotional attachment isn't really there for me in the performance, so usually they are all in fun. My favorite is a hard rocking version of "Hit Me Baby, One More Time" by Ms. Britney. I've also done a cover of Ryan Adam's "Firecracker" and Four Non-Blondes "Whats Up" and my dad plays with me on a bluesy Susan Ashton song "Coming Back."

*What does a typical setlist look like for you?*
A lot of times, I bust out the set-list when I'm standing up on stage, I like the spontaneity. I usually combine old favs wth new tunes, so I guess a typical oe would be:
1. Acting like someone pretending
2. Bringer of the sun
3. Girl like me
4. Like dying but kind
5. Out my window
6. Stubborn way
7. Better
8. This is for you
9. Rose colored lenses.

--Frequently Asked Questions about "Say Say Say"--

*Where did Say Say Say come from?*
A kickass performance by Annie prompted Cate and Erika to create this message board and spread the word about how awesome the girl and her music are.

*Who are the Administrators?*
There's Cate, the girl from Long Beach, CA who started the board. If you see her, say hi! She'll always show ya mad love.

*Who are the Moderators?*
There's Erika, the kickass chick from Torrance, CA and Emy from the East Coast who decided to join the craziness. Don't be afraid to say hello. They rock like woah.

*Are there any SSS rules?*
Nope. Only thing that we would ask is for everyone to be respectful of each other and share the love, share the music, and have a good time. With that said, peace out. Enjoy!

--If you see any questions in here that are not answered, feel free to IM or email Cate with any questions!--
