City wants out of Outlaws lease agreement
The city council voted last night to ask arbitrators to get them out of the lease agreement with San Angelo Pro Hockey dba Outlaws. Per City Manager Tom Adams, the Outlaws are behind on their monthly payments (DUH) although continusously given 30 day extensions and are sometimes 45 days past due. Naturally owner Dick Moore claims to be current and has no problem with the current lease (DUH, lemma pay when i wanna) and GM George Posepajhl says the city has "tried these tactics before and they've failed". City says they want hockey to stay and will continue discussions with the CHL to keep hockey here.

I'm holding my breath for you guys. Seems like the Moores, if they are current, would be able to provide checks to prove that they are current. Simple accounting, "Dick". Hope the city will work with the new owners to keep the organization in San Angelo.
Re: City wants out of Outlaws lease agreement
Could this be a ploy by the city to try to force the Moore's to sell?

Re: City wants out of Outlaws lease agreement
They've been in arbitration for months so it's not really news it's just that now that the season is over, they probably want payment in full or at least up-to-date. Moore can claim all he wants. The courts have already found them unwilling to provide required documents in the case vs. former coach Collins. He no longer has to prove FRAUD just provide the accounting documents to prove his loss of earnings, medical coverage etc. Moore's are penny pinchers and notorious for late or non payment.
I don't care what the reasoning is. The fact that this franchise is is late on payment to my city government fires me up big time!! My taxes aren't allowed to late, my money shouldn't be used to pay for expenses incurred at the coliseum during hockey season. THAT's what the lease is for. The Outlaws charge ridiculous amounts to SAAHA for youth hockey, children's birthday parties etc for ice time. They get at least $8 a ticket for the 2,179 they reported as average attendance. They've cut the team down to minimums on players (in addition to players just flat skipping town) so payroll overhead isn't massive. When you pull in $17,432 minimum per game and had at least 5 home games per month.....you should be able to pay the bills with over $87,000 in revenue. That doesn't include merchandise sales, chuck-a-puck, concessions percentages and advertising/sponsor money. yeah, they had road expenses for hotels, meals and buses. But the meals are paid on player perdiums paychecks so maybe not even all that money was paid. Who knows about the bus contracts; in the past the team has been stranded in cities where the bus company refused to continue until the bill was paid. Since they won't make their financial standing known to their legal counsel or the court for the Collins case; what makes anybody believe they're truthful about what they tell the public. They spent the last homestand basically begging for season ticket renewals and new purchases. They announce the coach is returning and think that'll prompt people to renew......not likely. Honest forthright information is not part of their vocabulary....it's documented in court.

Hopefully the city will be successful this time in booting the Moore's. They HAVE terminated their lease before, a few years ago and a court I think told them they couldn't. And they've been in arbitration with the city for as long as they've been here about different things. Hopefully this time they will be successful and soon, if they are booted and the CHL doesn't renew their league lease, I don't see why the new ownership can't just get up and running immediately without even buying the team. Just do your thing and act is if the Moore's don't exist. Without a place to play and without a league, you can just ignore the current Outlaw organization.

It would help our cause tremendously if fans around the league would pitch in on this campaign. Visiting fans contribute to the success of this franchise, and having the Outlaws visit your towns contributes to the success of your home town team. The league has to understand it's not just locals that are fed up with the image this ownership group portrays about the CHL. Voice your opinions at

Re: City wants out of Outlaws lease agreement
Well I put my job on the line by writting a letter to the Standard Times. It did not say anything bad about the Moore's execept for saying it was time for new ownership. If it gets printed my boss who is friends with the Moore's might take it the wrong way. Who knows, I feel I am intitled to my opinion so I sent the edited version.

Thanks Shady12 on the login comment...couldn't figure why after viewing your board all season....now I can keep up with your woes!! Best of luck on the whole situation there. Love coming to see the Outlaws, especially when your GM greets everyone at the door - coming and going after each game.
Re: City wants out of Outlaws lease agreement
I liked that George was there to greet everyone. I remember before a game last year these ladies from Fort Worth I was standing behind in line were talking about how stupid he was for doing that. I looked at them and said it's called common curtsey maybe you should learn it. Needles to say they had a blank look on their faces after I said that.
Did George tell you he would not be back or did you hear it from some where eles. Just wondering, I will miss George, but I knew if the Moores left he would, wonder if this is sign, we can only hope

Re: City wants out of Outlaws lease agreement
At the game on Friday, March 15 George was handing out the "fan survey". My husband asked him if he was going to be back next year. "I Hope so, fill this out and we'll see what happens", George.
The problem I had with those "surveys" is they were returned to the Moores and I don't trust them being honest about the results....nor how many they say were actually returned. I'm not the biggest fan of the SA City government most days but I'd have trusted their survey more than the one we got.
Re: City wants out of Outlaws lease agreement
Durn....George was a very nice addition to the game!! Seemed to truly support the Outlaws. Loved it at the All Stars game, even took a picture of George in his Outlaws' jersey, supporting his team in a most proud manner. That greeting fans at the front door was a truly Texas way of saying howdy to all fans - even us out-of-towners!! He'll be missed by this Rays fan.
