Broken Heart PG-13
Here is a story i shall stick with forever well until i am done with it!!

“Alexandria Jones, get your tiny little but down here” Her mother Patricia Jones called. Alex had just finished packing her stuff for her new job at Whitebrook Farm one of the best racing and breeding farms in the Kentucky area and she was going to be an Assistant trainer to Ian Mclean, Mike and Ashleigh Griffen. Once she got there she would move into her new home which was a small apartment above one of the barns.

“Coming” She called tucking her soft silky blonde hair behind her ear. Before walking downstairs she looked in the mirror and smiled.

“I am going to be working at Whitebrook Farm, yes me” she said looking at her nineteen year old self. She had bright green eyes and a small body. She could have been a jockey but she would wait till she got enough experience. When she got downstairs she saw her mother and her two brothers, Michael and Kenny.

“Well are you ready” Kenny asked? Kenny was thirteen and looked like her father he had black hair and deep black eyes and not a freckle on him. But his father was completely the opposite because he had been involved with an affair with some chick from England and Kenny was a sweet young man.

“Yes” She smiled hugging him. Then Michael who was fifteen grinned at her, just then she noticed he looked exactly like her mother except he was manlier, he had dark brown hair and dark blue eyes, so between her parents and her brothers she was the oddball she didn’t look like anyone that was alive in her family. She had a pretty color blonde hair and had electrifying green eyes and had a dark tan.

Taking one last breathe of her house Alex grabbed her baggage and got into her truck and drove away.

“Hello my name is Ashleigh Griffin and this is Mike and Ian” The small women said smiling. Taking her outstretched head she smiled back then greeted all of them.

“Hello I am Alexandria Jones the new Assistant Trainer” Alex said barely able to maintain her excitement.

“Do you want to see the horses you will be training, your specialty is distance isn’t it” Ian asked?

“Yes I do anything though” She smiled as the lead her down to the training barn.

“You will be training three horses to start out with one filly and two colts all two years old and their first race will be in May so that’s a few short months from now” Mike said smiling.

“Ok you will be training Rhythmical, he is out of Bright Glory and Blazing Heat, both where very good all around runners and both where stakes winners” Ashleigh said as the bay colt popped his head over the door. Alex was already in love with him, he had a short black mane and a small diamond on his head all in all he was gorgeous.

“The filly is Drama Queen she is out of Fleet Goddess and Jazzman you know both of them and the last one is Bright Morn he was bought as a yearling and he is out of Stormy Knight and Roman Blade” Ian said as the next to heads popped out at their names. Both were very gorgeous animals and both had great bloodlines.

“Oh my gosh the horses are just gorgeous” She cried hugging Ashleigh, Mike and Ian, “Thank you so much for giving me this job I am so thankful”!

“Your very welcome, I mean after you trained Thunder Hooves to victory in the Breeder’s Cup Turf last year we knew that you would be perfect here” Ashleigh laughed.

“Thank you” She said. Closing her eyes she saw the majestic thoroughbred gelding with his shiny black coat glittering in the sun light and his white dot on his head along with his legs lightly sprinkled with white. She could just imagine when she had last seen him boarding a plane for his new home. He has tried as hard as he could to get to her but his handlers forced him into the big plane.

The last time she saw him was him rearing in the plane and whinnying in fright. Tears started to form in her eyes but she quickly wiped them away.

“He was a great horse” She whispered. Opening her eyes she wrapped her arms around herself and then smiled. When Drama Queen nickered lightly Alex reached out and rubbed her velvet nose. Hopefully she would forget about Thunder soon.

After settling in her apartment the whole night Alex had woke up and got her coffee then walked down to the barn. When she got there she saw a girl tacking up a brilliant copper colored chestnut. The girl looked up and smiled.

“Hi I’m Christina Reese you must be Alexandria Jones” She smiled.

“Yes I am and let me guess since you are Christina I am guessing this beauty is the Belmont Winning, Breeder’s Cup Winning Wonder’s Star” Alex said walked foreword.

“Yes you are right” Christina said hugging the majestic horse. Smiling at the pair she walked down to the far end where her horses where stabled.

“Hi Queen baby how is my little princess doing” She smiled tickling her chin. The black filly lipped her fingers lightly and bobbed her head gracefully. “Ok so I am guessing Danny will be riding you today” She told the filly as she looked down at her clipboard. Then gave her a baby carrot with a little bit of alfalfa on it.

“I am guessing you are Alex. I’m Danny” A man said from behind her. Turning around she was looking down but noticed she wasn’t looking at him straight in the eyes she was looking at his feet, and then slowly lifting her head she nodded and blushed. How stupid of her to do that especially on her first day.

“Um.. yes that’s me and um Queen will need a nice long canter today and then if she seems fit enough give me a good four furlong breeze but don’t push her unless she really wants to and she feel absolutely ready if she isn’t bring her down to a canter and canter her about a mile” She told the young jockey a bit nervously.

While Danny was tacking up Queen Alex walked to the track and waited. While she was waiting she saw Christina and Star burst around the track at breakneck speed and then they passed a blonde girl and a dark bay mount. Immediately she noticed it was Melanie Graham on the bay and it looked like she was having trouble.

“He needs a ring bit” She whispered to herself, “And maybe some blinkers and a shadow role”.

“What did you say” A voice said coming from behind her. Turning around she jumped and saw a guy about her age with a goofy smile on.

“Oh nothing” She said smiling a nervous smile.

“Hi I’m Kevin Mclean and you are” He said sticking his hand out.

“I’m Alexandria Jones the new assistant trainer but you can call me Alex” She said grasping his outstretched hand and shaking it.

“Oh you’re training Queen, Rhythm and Morn” Kevin said slapping opening his eyes wide.

“Yes, Why” She asked cocking her head?

“Because those some of our best two year olds” He answered smiling. When the sound of clopping came up she quickly turned her head and saw Danny then giving him the instructions again she let them go

She heard Kevin try to talk to her but she put her finger to her mouth and smiled. When she was watching a horse work she was oblivious to everything around her. As she watched the filly work she noticed something wrong with her. The first thing she noticed was that Queen’s front legs weren’t very strong and her back legs needed to be toned up a bit, but she could change that. Second she seemed to have strong left lead but her right seemed to need a little work.

When she was turned loose into a breeze she admired the filly’s speed, even with her flaws she still ran like a champ. Opening her eyes wide she smiled in relief as the filly flew past the finish. Looking down at her stop watch she yelped in delight and then took a double take.

“Wohoo” she cried giving Danny a thumb up and smiling at him. All the trainers turned around and looked at her and then smiled or laughed. They must have thought she was crazy but they didn’t tell her that. When Queen and Danny came trotting back she ran up to them and smiled.

“So did we do well” Danny asked with a bright smile.

“Good you did phenomenal, well I have never seen her breeze but she seemed to be flying, you’ve ridden her before you tell me” Alex asked?

“Well she seemed to be showing off” Danny replied as the filly skittered across the track. She tossed her silky mane in all directions and whinnied as the other horses moved by.

“Hey Alex do you mind if Kevin took over your horses today and you came with me to the Fly Up Farm’s sell out sale today” Ashleigh asked with a smile on. Alex was taken back it seemed like things where moving so fast but she was happy. Excepting it immediately Ashleigh, Christina, Melanie and Alex headed to the truck with a four horse trailer following behind.

“So Alex how long have you trained horses” Melanie asked from the back seat?

“I have been training horses ever since I was fourteen so five years” She replied with a smile. Melanie smiled back then went back to looking through The Daily Racing Form.

“Who are the best horses you have trained” Christina asked obviously interested?

“Well of course Thunder Hooves other than that there are none except Halo’s Prize the colt who won the Kentucky Cup Special by six lengths except he didn’t have any competition but he has the potential to become better” She answered with a weak smile. The rest of the ride was silent and when they got there Ashleigh told Christina and Melanie to go off to find so nice horses and she and Alex would go to look on there own.

As they walked along the auction row a soft whinny caught her attention she looked around but saw nothing. Then she heard it again a whinny that she had heard before looking around she wondered where it came from then she saw a black face staring at her. When then horse started to toss his head from side to side and whinny louder she walked to the horse as if in a trance. Alex stopped in front of the stall and gasped the horse looked like he hadn’t been groomed in ten years and he was skinny.

His black coat was dull and his mane was long with burs in it and not to mention the long bangs had gotten stuck together and looked like they had glue in them. She looked for a name tag but there was none them she looked at the stallion closer even with his skinny form she could tell he was once a gorgeous horse. Looking at his groom she nodded for him to bring him out and when he did the horse rushed to her and buried his nose in her shoulder.

Laughing lightly she tried to scratch the horses coat but she could barely get her hands through his coarse coat. She frowned at his state and ran her hands through his back legs and smiled.

Hey Ashleigh come look at him” She called feeling his legs. He had great bone structure and a nice look to him. Whistling softly she moved back to his face and rubbed his nose. The horse’s ears relaxed and his back leg relaxed as if he was under a big tree and the sun was shining and the bird where chirping.

If this horse wasn’t so skinny and so poorly cared for she would have sworn he was Thunder but he wasn’t unless he had a ticklish spot on the top of his right rump. Then moving back there she moved her fingers around slowly as if to hope it wasn’t him.

When she reached the spot she stopped then taking a deep breath she moved to where the spot was and when she did she felt the horse jump. Then backing off she looked at him with a finger clapped over her mouth.

“Thunder boy” She whispered and when she did the horse turned around quickly and nickered to her. He almost trotted towards her as he pulled away from his grooms grasp.

“Alex do you know him” Ashleigh asked?

“I think so” She whispered hugging his neck tightly.

“Who is that” Ashleigh said as she came into the stall.

“It’s Thunder Hooves” She whispered. When she said that Ashleigh gasped in relief and smiled.

“I think we found ourselves a horse” Ashleigh smiled then put her finger to her lips and told Alex to not another word.

“Oh god Thunder boy you’re coming home with me” She whispered hugging him tightly. Then promising him she would come back she walked out of the stall and closed her eyes. “Thunder is going to be at Whitebrook forever” She thought to herself.
