Breaking the Cycle of Eternity (March 311)
The waterfall was beautiful, and the area surrounding it was brilliant and beautiful. It seemed to be an epitome of peace and tranquility. This was so far from the truth it was like the opposite sides of the moon.

The icy giant once known as Veoddyn rested behind one of the waterfalls, far away from anything known as civilization or society. He had many run-ins with all kinds of people, and so far, none of it had wound up very good for him. Everyone was so afraid that he was a tool from their 'enemy' and simply ran or tried their hardest to destroy him. He was sick of the look of fear or hatred that they took on their face at the sight of him. No one had ever thought that his actions may have been none hostile or without his own agenda or purpose.

Veoddyn had hid here for the past few days, away from everything and everyone... his soul tormented, and his mind having far too much time to think over anything and everything. He wanted a task... something to do... a goal... anything to break the endless cycle of going out, running into someone, watching them flee without a second though, or worse, fighting him. The fights he had gotten into have gotten better, as he didn't accidentally hurt anyone anymore... gaining control and instinct in his fights. Regardless of it all, the massive Ice Titan just sat there, beneath the cloak of falling water, the drops that did hit him freezing and adding little specks of new ice on his right side. It didn't bother him, nor did he want it to happen... it just simply did... just like for the moment... he simply... lived.

Re: Breaking the Cycle of Eternity (March 311)
Wally scurried happily along a trail that wound its way along the river, fed just ahead by a great falls. His last time spent upon this particular trail had proven most prosperous having found several trinkets that he could sell, if the right buyer would ever come along, as well as some rare herbs that could catch as good a price as any little knick-knack he was likely to find just lying around. There were of course some drawbacks to this form he had been bestowed with not long after entering this strange world, even beyond the obvious but it did come with its perks as well, he could smell distinct plants, food and even water from long ways away and he could all but taste metal objects if they lay near enough to him. That is why it never took him long to fill his pack when in a new place and why he was rarely in want for food or water.

He continued down the path towards the falling water but he did so with an appropriate amount of caution. It was by chance that he had ended up here again, or at least as far as he could tell so far that is how the power worked. His life had been threatened not 2 hours ago and he had blinked away from the danger. This meant that he would have to be careful for the rest of the day or he might find himself losing out on his second chance at life. The exterior of the “rat-man” was content and assured but just below the surface he was as skittish and paranoid as ever, after a blink though this balance was all the more precarious.

As the path passed closely by the water, just before the waterfall, Wally stopped and sat down on the bank to soak his feet in the water; he was a bit disappointed that he had yet to make any good finds. The water was cool, must have been being fed by the melting ice from upstream he thought as his stretched his weather-beaten toes under the water, dirt and grime from between them making dark streams flowing on downriver. He pulled his feet out and leaned out over the water to get a drink. Just as his lips touched the water a glint from the sun reflected off something under the waterfall and shined into Wally’s eyes. The bank slipped out from under him and he ended up face first in the water but for only a moment as he was frantically scrambling to his feet. Could they have tracked him down so quickly? Was he to be the latest victim of the rampant unicorn attacks? Was there a bombing squad trained on his location with some sort of yellow laze beam? And other such nonsense ran through his head as he ran and hid behind the closest, most safe thing he could find, a sparsely leaved bush.

A few agonizing minutes past as Wally waited for fiery death to rain down from above ending his miserable existence for a second time. Nothing happened and slowly he opened his eyes which he had not until that moment realized he had closed. Gently he crept away from his hiding spot behind the bush and peered inch by inch over the foliage towards the waterfall where he had seen the light. Could that be...Is that...Ice? as it came into better view he could see just behind the waterfall a great collection of ice. Doing what anyone else would do in that situation or at least that was Wally’s thinking he searched around nearby. “Ahh there is a good one” And with a great heave he sent a rock about the size of a cantaloupe hurtling towards the pile of ice below the water as he waited and watched to see what would happen.

Re: Breaking the Cycle of Eternity (March 311)
He could smell it… the smell of some kind of creature making its way towards him. It didn’t smell at all evil or grotesque, and by the lack of vibrations in the ground, it wasn’t very large either. Life had told him how to judge someone coming towards you not by looking at them, but rather using all the other senses to whisper the coming of a new adversary, or the passing animal. Since simply it didn’t seem evil or anything of the sort, he dismissed it completely, almost certain that the creature was nothing more than a common deer or whatever it was that roamed this part of the pass. It didn’t matter… animals usually had an innate sense and they all steered away from the Ice Titan like he was the plague. Veoddyn didn’t mind at all either, considering the fact that it kept most things from bothering him, especially while he was thinking.

What began to catch his eye was simple… it was the manner in which the creature was moving about. He could see him through the waterfall now, slowly working his way down the path in his general direction. He seemed to be using two legs, instead of scurrying about… and he seemed to be carrying something on his back, and wearing clothing. This could mean trouble in a variety of ways. Either he was so powerful that he was able to hide his aura, or… he was weak enough he would be curious about a bunch of ice and not have the innate sense to back away from the hulking behemoth. Either way could be trouble, but for the moment, he seemed to remain unnoticed, as the creature put his feet in the water, as to relax.

Veoddyn eased slightly, and allowed himself to relax. This is where he made his mistake. As a normal part of that reaction, he sighed ever so slightly, emitting a bit of frozen air that turned the air around his mouth a cool blue, which the creature seemed to notice. It panicked, running around as if it had been attacked already… quite skittish. Veoddyn froze… not moving any part of his body whatsoever. He even, ever so slightly, closed his eyes to hide the dull glow they constantly emitted. He was fortunate though, as the creature had hid in some brush… which didn’t provide the best protection, even from visibility. As he looked at it for just a moment more, he noticed the bush trembling ever so slightly. His eyes now closed, he honed on his other senses, in particular being his smell. Out of anything the curse had brought upon him, he could smell things, and track them by their unique smell much clearer than if he had been human. He also could hear the faint rustle of the leaves as the creature trembled. He was indeed quite skittish.

It was a slow process, but the creature seemed to slowly realize that he was not going to be harmed by whatever had scared him, whether it had been the ice titan or otherwise… and the trembling stopped. He turned the opacity of his eyelids to just barely to where he could see out, but it would be extremely difficult for anything to realize that he was nothing more than ice. The creature slowly began to close in on him, peering in wonder for a moment, then turning and looking for something. Veoddyn had a feeling he knew what he was looking for… it had to be one of two things… a stick…

“Ahh there is a good one”

…or a rock. It wasn’t all that large compared to him, but the creature, apparently intelligent in some sense of the definition, was about the same size as the rock he had thrown. It got about ¾ the distance to him when he quickly reached out and caught it.

Holding the stone, he unraveled from the curl position he had been laying in. The little cove in which he was laying was large enough for him to stand, and he needed to stretch a bit. Moving from being a pile of ice to an 8’ 6” Ice Titan, he stretched, looking at the ceiling and opening his eyes, revealing the dull white glow within. This was going to be quite interesting… a titan and a mouse. Realizing he was still holding the stone, which his icy touch had now completely covered in ice, he discarded it completely, the stone shattering on the ground beside him. He bent down, crouching on his stout legs and leaning on his knees with his forearms, his eagle-looking head staring at the rat-creature for a moment before speaking.

“Do not be frightened creature, I shall not harm you.” His voice was cold and mostly demonic, but if one listened carefully, they could hear the tinge of humanity deep within his tone. Veoddyn knew this would probably do little to settle the creature’s nerves, but it was worth a shot.

What was just seconds before a pile of ice reached out, caught the rock he had thrown and smashed it into 1000 pieces, the ice giant then towered above him for a moment before he leaned down and stared him in the eye, saying he would not hurt him. Wally did what any wild animal and most normal people might do in that situation and unconsciously relieved himself in his pants. “Uhh….I won’t hurt you either.” He spoke aloud though not totally sure of himself, not may things in this place have proclaimed to be benevolent without planning on smashing your head in with the next solid object they could find. Wally believed what he heard this time, not because the words rang true, not because of the passive posture the ice demon had taken but simply because the alternative meant he was staring death in the face and that was not an option he was ready to embrace. When finally coming to his senses, as much as could be expected under the circumstances he spoke again.

"Oh might ice eagle of the waterfall, what do you ask of me?" he asked as he dropped to his knees.

“Uhh….I won’t hurt you either.”

Aside soiling himself and seeming quite discombobulated, the creature was doing very well in his presence. He hadn’t run, screamed, or even tried to attack him, so thus far, it was definitely good. Involuntarily soiling oneself and confusion was actually pretty darn good. As he continued to stare into the creatures eyes, he actually looked within, searching for evil. Demon’s had this ability for influencing them, but he used it differently, to judge their character and trustworthiness. He seemed to collect himself, in some sense, and then he dropped to his knees.

"Oh mighty ice eagle of the waterfall, what do you ask of me?"

If it was possible for an Ice Titan, his eyes rolled. He had seen this action once before, and it was mostly due to a weak willpower. It didn’t matter, it was better than trying his luck against him in battle. Something told him he wasn’t suited for combat… or he was a REALLY good thief… not likely.

“You need not fear nor serve me… I am here as a passive bystandard. I do not have followers, nor do I wish anyone to worship me… please cease. If it is at all possible, talk to me as though I were just another traveler… for that is my true purpose. Wanderin

The frozen behemoth took a step back, sitting on a stone, both point of contact freezing the immediate area surrounding it, laying a thin coat of ice over the cavernous rock, truly symbolizing the reason he didn’t offer a handshake. His glowing eyes were still locked with the little rat-man’s own eyes, if for no other reason, to show respect. He truly was intrigued by this creature, for he hadn’t talked to hardly anyone for quite some time, and was interested in the happenings of the world. His voice, still the same, spoke again. “What may I call you, fellow wanderer?”

Re: Breaking the Cycle of Eternity (March 311)
"Wally, most people just call me Wally" he said as he smiled his most genuine smile, relaxing a bit as the ice giant sat upon a nearby stone. Seeing the behemoth more at ease also took some of the pressure off of him. Wally found himself a similarly sized stone for his size and plopped down upon it, letting his pack lie on the ground beside him but never completely releasing the strap.

"So..." Wally said, faltering mid sentence as he struggled with what words would come next, "You come around here often?" He was most uncomfortable with the whole situation, sure the ice falcon had said it didn’t mean him any harm but what was to stop him from freezing and smashing Wally the same way he had destroyed that rock if the ratling misspoke or insulted him. In fact the only thing keeping him running for his life was the thought that this demon might take that as an insult and instantly massacre him without a second though.

Perhaps he wants to get to know me then he will kill me, one of those killers that had to prove they were truly cold blooded by killing those that fancied themselves friends with the murder. It was all a bit much for Wally to take in so he just quietly sat on his stone, his pouch close at hand and waited for the Ice Giant to speak to him, quietly cursing himself for having ever thrown that stone.

Re: Breaking the Cycle of Eternity (March 311)
"Wally, most people just call me Wally”

While his words and his smile would have normally been reassuring, Veoddyn could tell it was only skin deep. The creature was afraid, right down to his core, and it would take quite a bit to shake him of that. The way he held his pack as well, with it resting on the ground but a strap in hand let him know he was ready to run at a moment’s notice.

“Wally… is that your true name? You said it is what you are called by most, does that mean it is not your actual name?”

Veoddyn’s tone, while still demonic because of his shape and form, seemed to be less precautious now, as though he were talking to Wally on equal terms.

"So..."

The pause reconfirmed the fear within the rat-ling.

"You come around here often?"

He was trying to make small talk, as he was uncomfortable. It wasn’t unexpected, but a little unnerving. He looked at the walls a little, thinking a bit about the question. He seemed to realize something, and then turned towards Wally again.

“I apologize, I have forgotten my manners. It has been such a long time since anyone has not simply run in fear or tried to take me down, manners are something I don’t get to practice often. My name is Veoddyn… I have been here for a month, and I have been referred to as the Ice Titan… but it wasn’t always this way.”

Pain stained his words, as the memories of battling the real ice demon flooded his mind… the terrible curse… the immeasurable amount of time that has passed between now and then. Shaking his head slightly, he pushed the memories back to the storage of his mind, looking back towards Wally.

“That is neither here nor there, I am what I am now, and it won’t change. I am often feared or hated, but although you seem to have fear within you, you do not flee. Is that reaction out of fear as well? I have been around this world for what seems like ages… things have changed in the real world I can assume… Any world events that would be interesting?”

Veoddyn had regained his composure, now seeming a bit interested, curious what Wally would have to say.

"Veoddyn, huh?" Wally shifted on his rock, the last thing he wanted was to make friends with some Ice Titan as he was called, that is most definitely not low profile, the way Wally preferred to remain. "Walter is my formal name, I haven’t been here all that long but I honestly can’t remember much about the world before. I made a mistake if you can call it that and ended up looking and acting as I do now, not so bad actually. What is it you were? Before I mean." Wally looked up at the titan for the first time catching his eyes, he felt a bit of a kinship with him though he couldn’t identify why.

He looked down at where Veoddyn had stood and watched as the frozen ground gave way to simple mud. He was at his core water, perhaps that is why he was sitting in the waterfall, an Ice titan couldn’t venture far from a fresh source of water. Which would also explain why he hadn’t heard anything about him before if he spent most of his time in the wilderness.

Veoddyn nodded his head in understanding before he began to respond. "Then you and I have some similarities as well as differences. You are a transfer... someone given a second chance at life. To be honest, this is my first chance... I was born here... but I was once, human. I fought an Ice Demon and he cursed me with his dying breath to look like this. After that... I have done nothing but wander through earth and time, unsure of what it is I have had to

Veoddyn paused, raising his icy clawed hand and bringing it to his view.

"This new body has given me much strength and power.

Looking again at Wally, he seemed to smile, if an Ice Titan was capable of doing so.

"Because of your transformation, you and I share some of this same pain. I am glad to have met you. In this place in which time passes so slowly, I feel like I have lost my path in which what I must do while my existence lingers here. It is painful not to have a purpose... bu-"

Veoddyn paused midsentence as his senses picked up something. Something... hostile. While he was sure that he was not it's target, someone like Walter might be. It could be a simple animal that could be strayed away, but it could be something more. Regardless, Veoddyn knew that he had to protect his friend, one of the so very few he has in his time in this realm.

"Walter... get behind me... something is hunting you..."

Re: Breaking the Cycle of Eternity (March 311)
Wally sat and listened; there was little else he could do. For such a powerful Ice Titan he sure doesn't seem all that happy. It was true that Wally had been changed but it was by his own decision, perhaps Veoddyn was not completely innocent but he didn’t ask to be an ice demon. The new forms offered more possibilities, and in the case of Wally a chance to survive in this world but changes of that magnitude always came with a hefty price tag. I don’t regret what I did...I will be respected again soon enough.

Wally opened his mouth to speak just as Veoddyn stopped, perhaps offering him some purpose or at least a possible one.

"Something is hunting you..."

"Hunting me?" Wally had already used all the fear he had within him having met the Ice Giant and he was not about to look weak now, that could be just the thing that could set a demon like this one off.

"No, No, I'll handle this" The ratling spoke as he darted forward, his low moving, stealthy profile all but disappearing within the clouds of spray as he searched for his attacker. The breeze changed direction and revealed Wally crouched, poised, dagger unsheathed, knuckles white as he gripped the black handle, the blade pointed down, drops of water falling from the razor sharp point. Wally's eyes widened, blood thirst filling them as his legs exploded beneath him sending him flying forward, blade first into the mist.

"Oh god!" a spastic foot could be seen sticking out from the clouds kicking this way and that.

"No, not there! Argh" Water splashed up from where a figure dove into the continuing river. The water settled, as much as it could below a waterfall, and for a few moments all was still.

Suddenly the water stirred again, this time from someone coming to the surface, gasping for breath. As the dark figure moved towards the bank one could see that it is Wally. He got to the bank without MUCH trouble, water flowing out from the legs of his large red pants. He held up his hands, clenched within them was a rather large, ugly as sin, frog squirming and kicking to get free, Wally’s fingers digging into it. "He was a wily one but I nabbed him" He said with a smile looking up at Veoddyn.

Re: Breaking the Cycle of Eternity (March 311)
Veoddyn watched and learned as the creature struggled in it's little mini-battle with Walter. This was most interesting, as it seemed Walter was not afraid of battle, nor unwilling to risk his life to win. Considering his size, this was most intriguing to Veoddyn.

While watching the fight, he was using his Ice Construct to make a half-sphere cage out of condensed ice. He wasn't really doing it with any sense of urgency. As soon as Walter was finished, he watched for a moment while he still contained his attacker.

When Walter looked towards him, all he saw was the icy breath that he left behind... Veoddyn himself turning invisible.

For a few agonizingly long minutes, it seemed as though Veoddyn had simply vanished without a trace. Suddenly he appeared, in the same spot, and hurled his cage, seemingly directly at Walter. Two of the teeth caught the ground and actually dragged, ripping a bit of the ground up on both sides of Walter as the cage smashed into a large pouncing cat mid-air and encasing him within the icy web-like bars. The cat growled loudly, and swiped at the cage, the jagged edges tearing into the cat's paws. A quick leap, and Veoddyn himself was airborne, flying over his Rat-Companion and smashing on top of the cage, embedding it into the ground.

"That was what I was refering to my friend."

Stepping off, he took the two steps to get to Walter and took a knee.

"Are you unharmed, Walter?"
