Twenty five hundred dollars to the winner. Fifteen hundred fans. Thirty-second rounds. Five judges. Two emcees.
But there can only be one Brainstorm champion.

And in the inaugural Brainstorm, Khalil Crisis (Seattle, WA) edged out Bishop I (Seattle, WA) in a sudden death acappella tiebreaker in 2001.
Brainstorm 3 will its tradition of recruiting and inviting only the best talent from across the continent. And just as someone like Eminem began his drive to stardom on the battle circuit, nobody knows exactly who might turn Brainstorm 3 into an opportunity to create a huge buzz or earn a record deal.
The battle will consist of head-to-head competition tournament format with the winner advancing and the loser out. In all battles each contestant will have 30 seconds apiece to freestyle in each round. Every battle will consist of two rounds each with a different beat, except for the finals. The judging criteria consists of 1. lyrical content - freestyle ability, punchlines, knowledge, wordplay; 2. originality - style, creativity; 3. emceeing - cadence, delivery, clarity.
The weekend long event will also feature performance from highly reputable hip-hop artists to be announced soon. And as a bonus for selected contestants from out of town, they will showcase their recorded material. Last year Presence, iCON, Educated Consumers (Washington D.C.) and the Infamous MC (Oakland, CA).
