Borque, Washbrook, and murphy
Can anybody tell me where David Borque ended up after being waived by TL. What about Washbrook.
TL must have been drinking when he waived Borque - sorry to rub any TL supporters the wrong way but Borque was a very good defenseman.
Washbrook is inconsistant but a good guy.
Welcome Craig Johnson and John Murphy.
Glad to see the old man give it another year - CJ is fun to watch.
And if anything Murphy will drive the girls in FW wild with his blue eyes. But is one great d-man.
Someone is already talking of a Legualt and Murphy gloves matchup. for John's sake hope it does not happen because Legault will hilite both those blue eyes with Black and Purple circles. Now Craig Johnson is another story - I saw that big boy down two ice rays by himself in CTX and if its dukes you like than CJ - Legualt would make a much better match-up.
Nothing against Murphy at all he is one of the best D-Men I have ever seen play in this league and I know Ft worth just improoved highly with his signing.
If they would have kept Borque with this pair then it would have brought 3 of the CTX leading d-men back to the same team. Cutting Borque was dumb - just plain dumb! I think that TL had his reasons - he is a great coach - will probably be in the NHL one day but I do not understanding cutting someone who played as hard, good, and gritty as you asked him to last year. Anyway someone tell me where Borque and Washbrook ended up so that I can go see what TL did not!

Washbrook I don't know about but Dave Bourque is now a New Mexico Scorpion.

Here's the truth
Bourque isn't that good, he made some key mistakes last year and couldn't learn from them. Washbrook, according to TL "can't skate", so he was cut. Don't look for him in the CHL.

Johnson will probably be our worst D-man again this yeare. In my opinion, he should be playing forward but then he would have to forecheck which he doesn't do. He cost us 4-5 games last year because he just sat in the crease, screened our goalie and didn't bother picking up the other team's forward. Maybe the signing of Murphy makes Johnson expendable. Although he is a good leader if his below average play doesn't alienate teammates. Another reason Murphy was signed is because Johnson doesn't fight anymore, he's just an antagonist now.

If Doug Shedden can win 5 championships at this level and still not move up, what makes you think Todd will be in the NHL someday?

Re: Here's the truth
Chips,

Here's the truth too,
Borque was a friend who we used to get tanked up after the CTX games here. I just did want someone ragging him about clubbing. Your right Washbrook can't skate, he was cut from Europe by the cup winning team. By the way that cup winning teams League MVP is now with the 2002-03 CHL cup winner
Austin Ice Bats ( hint - he stops the puck !). Yes Im a Bat Backer and I feel pretty confident - well 99.999999999% sure
barring call-ups and injurys that the Bats will win it all.
Johnson is a good player, good community guy too.
Elmira would not resign Murphy but did resign Winger and Guinn. Murphy fights yes, just does not win! As far as TL being in the NHL I have just heard that from alot of people
not just the ones that support him but also the ones that hate his guts. You seem to be ragging the Ft Worth team
but them underachievers who made alot of mistakes and cost
them games did make it quite a ways in the playoffs.
Oh well I will come to Ft Worh when NMX comes down there and watch Borque blow another game for Ft Worth, blow it wide open. Another small Prediction of the near future Ft Worth will not beat Austin at any one time this year!!!!!!!!!!
not now and not at all.

Do you agree.......

Not ragging on the team just telling it like it is. Johnson's days are numbered, trust me.

Austin will get their first loss Friday night, count on it!

Let me guess....you just got back from TLs pep rally?

FTW couldn't do it last year and I seriously doubt they can do it this year. But it should be a great game to watch!

Re: FW will win!
This aint the Bengals and you are not playing an expansion team.
So thats one prediction you should not make.
Plus there are a few austin players that have something to show TL so that alone is a big boost.
If the brahmas happen to pull off the upset I will be the first one to congratulate them.
chips,
If you are going to point us back to austin after the Ice bats victory over your beloved brahmas - do you use one hand for that or two?

Re: FW will win!
If, and that a big If we lose I'll use one finger.

Nah, just kidding. Here's a little scouting report about this years team. Joe Van Volsen, Kyle Reeves and Chad Woollard are the top line. Joe and Chad have been playing great while Kyle is in a 5 game goal-less streak. Murphy has been paired with Tilson to make up the first D pairing. Mullin is our #1 goalie and is about 5-6 on his tip-toes, but he is super quick. Jim Midgley, #7, has shown a knack for scoring and setting up his linemates. David Fry(#29) is our fastest player but hasn't scored much yet.

Our toughness come from Ryan Rivard(#24), Murphy and Woollard and possible Lee Jacobsen(#12) who is 6'4 and 230. Woollard is probably our best fighter on the team but Murphy hasn't fought at home yet.

It should be fun to see how Barnes plays against TL and if Murph and Legs go at it, let's hope so.

Chips,

I know Barnes will play big, So will Tally and the rest.
you're right it will be a good one.
Don't talk about them little goalies - look at Barnes
Hes the best in this league by far - not knocking Mullin
but Barnes is the best and he's only 5'4"
I am 90% sure going to the game, lets have a beer and some laughs and sit back and watch a great game -whatever the outcome!
The Brahmas are my third favorite team in the league, I always pull for them unless they are palying Austin or Lubbock.
I have alot of friends there so its always competetive fun...
I thought after 2-0 it was going good - maybe with mullin back it will pick back up and get on track. Just wont be Friday ! ha!

Re: FW will win! Not
Well instead of 4-1 Fort Worth will have to win 2-1 because Kyle Reeves was suspended by the team today. Not sure why but possibly because he was so frustrated for not scoring in 5 straight games he must have blown up in practice or something.

Gonna be tough Friday night.
