Autism with Tourette's
Has anyone know anything about an autistic person also having Tourette's Syndrome?

Re: Autism with Tourette's
Hi- I just posted and I am new here, but I will tell you that I dated a high functioning guy with tourette's who ended up going to YALE! GO figure! He lived a normal life, played football. But had bad tic's that were supressed with med's. Anyway, the point is Yes! I do.
My son is believed to be on the Autistic spectrum. After learning more about autism, I realized his father had many symptoms of a high functioning Autistic person. After talking with his father about this he told me even more things (sensory) that he has experienced throughout life that seem very autistic. I never knew this. What I did suspect all throughout our relationship though was him having Tourette's! He even admitted he thought he may have it. Both he and his father have tic's. He had pretty bad coughing ticks and obsessive compulsive disorder. The only way I could tell what it was was b/c I has previously dated a guy with Tourettes. Anyway, I must have a thing for autistic/ tourette's guys. My son's pediatrician who is the Father of a 21 yr. old autistic boy, laughed at/with me about this story, saying, "you dated 2 guys with tourette's! You are drawn to them and them to you b/c you are so OVERLY social, sensitive, and empathetic." I guess opposites do attract. Of course, I end up a MOmmy with a little one :)
