AWHL dropping imports
According to the KDH today, there will be no import rule in the AWHL next season -- American teams will have to have all American-born players and Fernie will have all Canadian-born players. Current imports playing in the league will be grandfathered for next year if they still retain junior eligibility.
As expected, Coach Gronborg is not pleased with this:
Quote:"I think that it's too bad we're trying to limit the talent pool," said Gronborg, who is returning from Bismarck, N.D., with the Hawks and was reached for comment near Oklahoma City. "The import rule gives great diversity to our team. The more diversity you can have will only make the league stronger."
If I understand this right , that just is STUPID
They are already adding teams and the talent pool is not exactly top caliber now - The european players bring a different game and that is one I feel is needed.
WOW - the league took so many positive steps in the right direction and now this is a backwards one - they will feel the hurt next year if they keep this one !!!
Re: Why are they doing this exactly?
